چکیده

Results The myxoma was approached via inter atrial septal and excised. Initial examination of Mitral valve apparatus revealed good leaflet coaptation no annular widening and therefore no interventions were performed. Weaning of bypass was difficult and trans-esophageal echocardiography revealed more than moderate Mitral regurgitation with central jet. The Mitral valve was approached through the Waterston’s groove and replaced with a St Jude mechanical prosthesis. Patient was weaned off bypass with stiff ionotropes and recovered uneventfully. Histopathology of excised valve revealed foci of myxoma with superimposed degenerative changes.

Cardiac Myxoma Originating from the Anterior Mitral Valve Leaflet

Primary cardiac tumors are rare and myxoma is the most common tumor among them. Cardiac myxoma usually occurs in the left atrium. Myxoma originating from mitral valve is extremely rare. We report a case of mitral valve myxoma. The tumor originated from the anterior mitral valve leaflet. The tumor was completely removed and replacement of the mitral valve was not done.

Left Atrial Myxoma: A Rare Tumor in a Child

Atrial myxomas are uncommon in the pediatric population but are very important due to pursuant atrioventricular valve obstruction and systemic embolic events. Concerning multiple symptoms ranging from congestive heart failure to neurological deficits, the diagnosis of this disease is complicated. This paper reports a case of left atrium myxoma in a child treated with a surgical excision o...

Unusual coexistence of atrial myxoma and mitral stenosis

A 22-year-old woman with a history of transient ischemic attack 2 weeks earlier presented with dyspnea on exertion. Cardiac auscultation revealed only an apical mid-diastolic murmur. Her electrocardiogram indicated atrial fibrillation. Transthoracic echocardiogram (TTE) showed significant rheumatic mitral stenosis (mitral valve area: 1.3 cm2) and mobile homogeneous mass in the left atrium (Fig....

Left Atrial Myxoma Mimicking Mitral Stenosis

Cardiac myxoma is a benign (non-malignant) neoplasm that represents the most common primary tumour of the heart. We present the case of a 36 year old woman with background hypertension who presented with features of left ventricular failure and seizures, and was found during transthoracic echocardiography to have left atrial myxoma protruding through the mitral valve orifice. She subsequently h...

Primary heart tumors are not common. Âlthough myxoma is the most common tumor of the heart, mitral valve myxoma is extremely rare. The patient is a 55 years old woman who had atypical retrosternal pain, retinal artery emboli and visual deficit. Ïn transesophageal echocardiography a (4x3x3) cm mass was detected in posterior leaflet of mitral valve. The posterior leaflet of mitral valve was tot...
